The Xorino cave opens to the sea at the western end of Praia do Túnel / Peneco, below the old town. Local legend says Moors sheltered there after the Christian reconquest in the 13th century. Boats can enter it only at low tide and in calm sea.
Cave and coast trips leave from Albufeira Marina (west of the old town) and from Vilamoura, heading west towards the caves and arches between Albufeira and São Rafael/Galé, and further to Benagil on longer trips. Some trips also combine caves with dolphin watching. Departure towns: Albufeira and Vilamoura.

Boats run from spring to autumn when the sea is calm; entering low caves like Xorino depends on the tide and swell on the day, so operators may only pass by the entrance. Mornings are often calmer.
Book licensed operators and wear the life jacket provided. Rockfalls happen on Albufeira’s cliffs: do not sit at the foot of them. For Benagil, the Capitania’s rules apply (no landing on the cave beach, no swimming in) — see our Benagil guide.

Albufeira Marina has pontoon boarding, which is easier than boarding from a beach. Check each operator’s accessibility and age notes in our listings — we mark them unknown where the operator does not publish them.
