Boats from Carvoeiro beach

Small boats leave straight from Praia do Carvoeiro and visit around 15–20 caves and beaches on the way to Marinha and Benagil, usually in 1–1.5 hours. Mornings tend to be calmer. You may get your feet wet boarding.

Algar Seco

Just east of the beach, a boardwalk leads to the Algar Seco rock formations with natural pools and the “Boneca” window. Free to visit on foot.

Kayak & SUP

Guided kayak and SUP tours start from Praia do Carvalho, Centeanes, Marinha and Benagil. They are the slowest — and many say the best — way to see the caves, but they depend strongly on the sea.

Seven Hanging Valleys trail

A clifftop walk of about 6 km (one way) between Praia da Marinha and Vale Centeanes, passing above Benagil. Bring water and good shoes; no shade.

Ponta da Piedade (Lagos)

In the west, Lagos’ Ponta da Piedade has golden sea stacks and grottoes. Short grotto boats (about 1–1.5 h) leave from Lagos marina, and kayaks from Praia da Batata.
